On our mission to the UAE, we paid a visit to the headquarters of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where we were given a warm and friendly welcome by the Director for International Business Relations, Mr Marwan Hareb and the Executive Director for Business & Investment, Mr Mohamed Al Janahi.
Thanks to this meeting, we were able to get to know Ajman at first hand, a rapidly developing city that has become ‘the 15 minutes City’ because it allows pedestrians, cyclists and transport users to reach all the services offered by the city within 15 minutes!
Ajman also boasts of an excellent #infrastructure system and a very efficient transport network, as well as having the first #private university in the GCC area: Ajman University.
Talking about start-ups, Mr Mohamed Al Janahi explained to us about the current phase of setting up a strategy for start-ups and SMEs, thanks also to the investments made in the Ajman University Innovation Centre, which amount to more than 100 million USD, highlighting the sectors that the strategy focuses on, including space, advanced technology, medical, renewable energies, marine, sustainable mobility, food and beverages products and agriculture4.0. The latter appears to be the sector of greatest interest in the Emirates in terms of investment.
A memorandum of understanding was agreed upon that will provide for a synergy between the Ajman reality and the Italian/European ones for mutual benefits and collaboration.
